Description

The oldest Japanese history book, the Kojiki, which was compiled 1,300 years ago, describes the origins of the Japanese people and their ways of thinking. The World of the Kojiki unravels the still-mysterious story of the Kojiki using three methods: animation, travelogue documentary, and studio talk.

The program decodes the Kojiki’s details and reveals the meanings behind the stories. The first story, “Kuniumi,” reveals the animistic beliefs and seafaring influences of the Japanese people, while the second story, “Yomi-no-kuni,” reveals the ethnic and spiritual roots of the Japanese people, including their views of life and death.

The often intimidating academic inquiries are presented in a fun and easy-to-understand way, combining pop animation and travelogue accounts that seemingly transport you back to the ancient world.
